The Sedona-Verde Valley Chapter is welcoming everyone to attend this event to learn more about this important function in our community.

What is TIP? Learn about this amazing group of volunteers from Sue Rutherford, Executive Director and Shannon Byers, Community Relations and Development Director. Leave wanting to do more for your community and consider becoming a volunteer.

Trauma Intervention Programs of Arizona’s, Inc. primary purpose is to ensure that those who are emotionally traumatized receive the support they need immediately following a crisis event and is designed to prevent the secondary victimization that all too often occurs with the loss of life incidents. These volunteers who are requested by hospital, police, and fire personnel to provide emotional and practical support to victims, survivors, and witnesses of these tragic events.

About our speaker:  Susan Rutherford, R.N., is the Executive Director of Trauma Intervention Programs of Arizona, Inc. Sue worked as a nurse in labor and delivery at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix Arizona throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 2000, Sue started with the first TIP Arizona Chapter in Prescott Valley. Today, Sue continues to lead two TIP Chapters (Yavapai West and Yavapai East) as a non-profit organization dedicated to providing immediate support to those emotionally traumatized by crisis events. She is a Certified Master Trainer with TIP National who trains EMS Personnel, health care professionals, and TIP Volunteers throughout the United States to provide emotional first aid and practical assistance to victims of crisis events.
